There’s not much that can be written about Derek Trucks that hasn’t been said before ad nauseam. The guy’s just a freak. His skill with a guitar is unparalleled. An underrated part of Trucks’s game, though, is his matured skill as a bandleader. Over the course of the Tedeschi Trucks Band’s November 16 show in Little Rock, Arkansas at the Robinson Center, he put on a mesmerizing guitar clinic. Equally compelling, though, was watching Trucks direct the band sharing the stage with him.
Three weeks from today, the Tedeschi Trucks Band will return to New York City’s Beacon Theatre for the 9th straight year, taking the stage for 6 performances from September through October 5. The band’s tenure at the venue, a tradition steeped in guitarist Derek Trucks’s Allman Brothers Band history has spanned over 30 shows.
This year, the band will have a few supporting acts – Capital Sun Rays (Luther Dickinson, Amy Helm, Birds of Chicago and Grahame Lesh) on October 1 and John Moreland on October 2.

The Tedeschi Trucks Bands Wheels of Soul tour rolled through Indianapolis, on July 24, and as always brought an amazing lineup with it. With this years tour featuring Shovels and Rope and Blackberry Smoke, concert-goers were treated to a night of unparalleled folk/rock, Southern Rock, and the genre-defying music of the headliners.
